Discover the Costa del Sol by land and sea with this fun afternoon outing. Take the comfortable fast ferry from Fuengirola to Benalmadena, then head inland for a visit to Mijas – the coast's most popular whitewashed village. Once there you can shop, explore with free time.

To warm up for the main event, you'll journey to Fuengirola and hop on a boat for a coastal cruise to Benalmadena. On docking, you'll board the bus and head up to Mijas in the hills. Once we've arrived, there'll be a glass of local wine and a tapa waiting for you at a nearby bar in the heart of the centre.

Afterwards, you'll have free time to explore the town's winding alleys at your own pace. You can shop for typical Andalusian products such as leather goods and ceramics, see the chapel in the rocks or ride the famous donkey-taxis – the kids will love it.

The boat trip was enjoyable and so was the visit to Mijas. Plenty of time to explore the tapas and wine was good too.Nearly didn’t take this because of the negative comments I read before booking but we all enjoyed the experience.The bus was on time and the guide was very good.

With hind sight I would have just taken a taxi to Mijas. The town was so lovely and well worth visiting but the ferry and coach trip was a waste of time. It was unfortunate that the ferry arrived 20 minutes late so we were standing in a queue in sweltering heat for over 45 minutes. Then on the way back from Mijas the coach broke down so we waited an hour for a replacement which we were told would be 15 minutes.

The sea was also rough and so the ferry was not a smooth sailing and no information given about what we were looking at. The guide Fred was lovely. Very informative and friendly. He looked after everyone well. The coach broke down on the way back and he did his best to keep everyone updated whilst new coach was arranged.

Didn't get a pick up from hotel would have liked more instructions on how to look for a bus stop in a country I don't know.
