5/5
1 reviews
  • 2 days + 1 night
  • 2 meals included
  • Light intensity
  • Desert camp
From Agadir, this two-day route south cuts through saffron fields in Taliouine, carpet-weaving workshops in Taznakht and the High Atlas foothills before dropping into the desert near Zagora. A sunset camel ride across the dunes leads to a nomadic camp where traditional dinner and live music set the tone for a night sleeping under a sky full of stars. The return via Ouarzazate and the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou makes the journey back just as rewarding.

What makes the night special

The camels pad softly across the dunes as the last sunlight turns the sand gold, then amber, then deep rose. At the nomadic camp, lanterns glow between low tents and the sound of traditional music drifts across the sand. Dinner is served communally with tagine, bread and tea. Afterwards, lying back on cushions, the Sahara sky opens up into a blanket of stars with no competition from city lights.

We couldn't fault anything. We would have paid the money for the trip just for the drive there which was stunning and fully air con which we did need. Yusef and Mohammed guided us just the perfect amount but kept their distance to give us some exploration time and space. They were really knowledgable and they got involved and helped us get involved with the berber music despite us both being a bit shy. They really helped us relax and feel well looked after. The best experience we ever had.
