Guided Atlas Mountains 4x4 tour

4.5/5
30 reviews

From sea level to high altitude, this is a full day trip with a side-order of adventure. You'll travel by 4x4 into the Atlas Mountains from the coastal plains of Agadir to discover the Berber village of Imouzzer Ida Outanane. Jamal, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Imouzzer means “waterfall” in Berber, the language of the Atlas Mountains. Indeed, there are several waterfalls in the heart of our green valley, a place known especially for the quality of its honey.'

Your High Atlas Mountains off-road adventure begins with a light breakfast and then a photo stop at the cool, palm-clad Tamzargout oasis, where you can stretch our legs. As we travel higher up into the mountains, the jaw-dropping views over Paradise Valley are sure to leave an impression. We'll arrive in the village of Immouzer to see how life in a typical Berber mountain community unfolds. On hot days, you might see local kids jumping off the rocks into the natural pools just outside the village.

As you stroll around the village, you'll pass stalls selling Moroccan souvenirs and the prized local honey. Jamal says, ‘My mother used to prepare an artisanal treat known as “amlou”, made with Immouzer honey mixed with crushed almonds and argan oil, a real Berber delicacy.' Next it's time for an al fresco lunch prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. You'll have some free time to relax and take in your dramatic surroundings before we return to Agadir through a different route in the mountains.

The booking agent gave no information about the trip therefore we were unaware of the very high temperatures 40degC or appropriate clothing - there was a swimming pool at the lunch stop - we had no swimming kit. The guide was quite outspoken and opinionated, it seemed that the experiences on the tour were centred around shopping and or spending money. At times we were standing on the side of the road in a group of up to to 20 people with traffic passing close by, it did not feel very safe.

Fantastic drivers and guide Felt there was a lot of unnecessary stopping/starting Would have preferred to go straight into the depths of the mountains but that’s just me personally The guide was great 👍

The trip was wonderful from start to finish. We were picked up in time, the vehicle was clean and the driver excellent. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was great. The mountains were spectacular with carpets of flowers and lots of butterflies. I loved every minute.

Rachid/Rashid. He makes this tour. His language skills and humour are truly engaging. He gave us a great mix of humour and fact which really made the tour 100% worth booking. The scenery and experiences are incredible and really help you indulge in the local culture. There was absolutely nothing negative about this tour.
