Kingston City and Blue Mountains

3.3/5
3 reviews

The striking contrasts of urban and rural Jamaica are in the spotlight on this tour. Exploring Kingston and the Blue Mountains offers a great introduction to the island's character. Among the gems on this excursion are visits to a coffee plantation, Emancipation Park and the iconic Bob Marley Museum. As one of our seasoned guides puts it, "The blend of city vibrancy and tranquil countryside truly encapsulates the heart of Jamaica."

The adventure begins with a venture into the misty Blue Mountains. Savour an authentic Jamaican lunch, before setting off on a tour of the Rainforest Alliance-certified Craighton Estate. Let your senses be tantalised by the aroma of Blue Mountain coffee – widely recognised as one of the world's finest. Our guide shares, “The taste of freshly brewed coffee from the plantation is an experience like no other.”

Next, we plunge into the pulsating rhythm of Kingston. Explore historic sites in the capital's uptown such as Emancipation Park – home to the powerful Redemption Song and Bob Marley statues. At the Bob Marley Museum, you'll be able to learn all about reggae history, viewing mementos including his gold and platinum discs as well as his personal outfits and instruments. This tour promises an unforgettable insight into the soul of Jamaica.

The Blue mountain and Kingston trip is not really worth the money, if someone is great fan of Bob Marley then may be happy with the museum, visiting Blue Mountain would be much better if we can stay there longer- overall the coffee production guide is interesting but nothing special. Generally we had huge issues with the transport bus , whole day trip without AC and on top of that the engine belt brakes so we stocked in Kingston - stressful experience.

What we didn't like was that the driver drove very fast, especially on the way to Blue Mountains. On the way back, it started to rain heavily, and the descent was also fast. Another thing we didn't like was that the stop in Emancipation Park was very brief.

The tui tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining , making the 2+ hour trip feel much shorter. My only suggestion would be to allow for a bit of free time at each location after the guided portion. For example, we hardly had a moment to purchase coffee from the plantation.

Long drive was expected but wish we had spent more time in Kingston seeing some of the sights. The stop in 0cho Rios was very disappointing as it was just an overpriced gift shop (more expensive than the Bob Marley muse). The trip to the Blue mountains and lunch were great but would have appreciated a glass of water after the mini hike. My daughter got a 1:1 tour as the guide did not wait to see if other guests were managing the walk ok. The highlight was definitely the Bob Marley museum.
