Join our local guide for a 3.5- hour private tour of the Egyptian wing and the best-known works of art of the Louvre Museum.
This experience is part of Iconic Insiders, a selection of tours designed for first-time visitors to uncover what matters and get oriented in a new city. Your destination insider is a licensed guide who will offer recommendations and highlight the most visually attractive places of the itinerary.
Our tour starts with an introduction to the Louvre from the outside with great photo opportunities near and under the iconic glass pyramid. We'll then enter the basement of the museum where remnants of the Medieval Louvre fortress are still visible. We'll move to the Egyptian wing that features over 50,000 pieces including artifacts from the Nile civilizations and overviews of Egyptian life. We'll dedicate about one hour to seeing the most important artworks including The Great Sphinx of Tanis, the Dendera Zodiac, the Sarcophagus of Ramesses III, the Egyptian Mummy, The Seated Scribe, and much more!
The second part of our tour focuses on the world-famous masterpieces of the collection. We'll go through Greek Antiquities, the Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the Crown Jewels, Italian Renaissance, The Virgin of the Rocks by Leonardo da Vinci (and paintings nearby), The Wedding Feast at Cana, The coronation of Napoleon, Liberty leading the people, The Raft of Medusa, Italian Sculptures (Michelangelo's slaves) and of course, the Mona Lisa!
Our tour ends in the main hall inside the museum, giving you time to explore further at your own pace if you wish to do so.
