Brijuni Islands National Park

3/5
7 reviews

Playground to Habsburg aristocrats, Hollywood legends and Yugoslav leaders, the Brijuni Islands make for an idyllic day trip out from Istria. You'll take a boat across the Fazana Strait and glide into this archipelago of 14 islands and islets. Dock at Veliki Brijun and explore the largest of the islands up close.

Just off the Istrian coastline, the Brijuni National Park takes no time at all to reach. En route, you'll be afforded views over the Adriatic as we cross the Fazama Strait. Then, you'll cruise around the 14 islands and islets, taking in their pristine beauty, seeing why they were the favoured summer destination of many aristocrats and stars such as Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren.

We'll alight at Veliki Brijun, which is carpeted in pines, plants, oak forests and olive groves. Your guide will give you a tour on foot and then you'll hop aboard a mini-train to pass through the grassy meadows. Keep an eye out for deer and sheep before some free time to sightsee by yourself.

We found it quiet boring, we were left guessing what to do next, the so called Safari was actually a farm, if I wanted to see cows and sheep I would have gone to the field at home where I live, at the end we were left on Boring island for an hour with nothing to do

Fantastic! An amazing trip around unspoilt natural beauty. The tour is well set up and the guide was very knowledgeable. Lovely day out

Bus transfer was a little chaotic. Didn't communicate which return boat to catch to meet the bus. Island was quite nice and guide was informative and cheerful. Boat is just a straight ferry without going around the islands which the description sort of implies it does. Don't think we would do the trip again given what we know now.

Our whole experience of the National Park was ruined by the total lack of TUI reps. and Guides. The whole Excursion was a shambles from beginning to end

The pick up & transfer to the vessel was fine, enjoyed the cool breeze to the Brijuni island, once we arrived on the island we were stranded!!! No guide...No information...No departure time for our return trip...we had to rely on other travellers & their guide to provide a programme for the excursion...very very poor.

The place was really nice and we had a good day, the train round the island very good with commentary. Getting to the ferry and instructions what to do after was disjointed with no real English speaking comms
