The tour is the perfect introduction to the heritage and culture of Abu Dhabi.

Departing from Dubai, the drive to Abu Dhabi is approximately two hours long, during which you can enjoy the views. The first stop is the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which is the largest mosque in the United Aarab Emirates and the eighth-largest mosque in the world. It is named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and first President of the United Arab Emirates. The mosque is large enough to accommodate 40,000 worshippers and the main prayer hall can welcome up to 9,000 worshippers. Two rooms next to the main prayer hall, with a 1,500-capacity each, are for the exclusive use of women. You'll marvel at the mosque's beauty combining white marble stone, gold, crystals and ceramics.

Afterwards, the tour will continue at the Heritage Village where you can learn about the culture and tradition of the Emirati. There will be a photo stop at the Emirates Palace and you'll then drive through the Abu Dhabi Corniche and Louvre Abu Dhabi. You'll also have some time to wander around The Marina Mall.

After confirmation of pickup time, the driver arrived too early (“because the traffic is bad”) so we had to get ready in a rush. Transport was a small minibus, insufficient aircon and no Wi-Fi. The guide inspected everyone’s clothes and declared mine - a knee length shirt and baggy trousers ‘unfit for a mosque’. Of course, we then had to buy an abaya at 45 dirhams or more. Abu Dhabi has nothing to offer except yet another mall. In short I wouldn’t recommend this tour. Not awful but not great.

Eine sehr schöne und informative Tour. Der Tourgide Ahmad war ausgesprochen sympathisch, sehr freundlich und höflich. Er hat uns viel von Land und Leuten sowie von der Kultur erzählt. Hatte auf jede Frage eine Antwort und konnte alles gut erklären. Da einige Gäste wieder zeitig im Hotel sein wollten, haben wir nach dem Besuch der Moschee leider immer nur kurze Stopps gemacht um auf der Rückfahrt nach Dubai nicht in die Rush Hour zu geraten.

Die Ausschreibung „Moschee und Heritage Village“ wurde geboten. Leider war der Ausstellungsteil im Village geschlossen, nur die Verkaufsstände geöffnet. Anschließend ein Mittagessen schlechter Qualität zum Aufpreis von 25,-€ pP, welches 1 h in Anspruch nahm (man wurde gefragt, ob man das möchte aber eine Alternative gab es nicht). Danach direkter Rückweg. Hier bot der Reiseleiter halbherzig weitere Möglichkeiten an, riet aber zur Rückfahrt. Leider bekam man keinen Überblick von Abu Dhabi!

Der Tag in Abu Dhabi war alles in allem ein sehr gelungener Tagesausflug.Wir haben sehr vieles erfahren und auch sehr vieles gesehen.

Important to know

The dress code for the Sheikh Zayed Grande Mosque is the following: modest, conservative, loose fitting clothing,long sleeves, long skirts and trousers; no tight and transparent clothes; no short pants for men; no shorts pants for women and skirts must be ankle length; no swimwear and no beachwear; headscarf for ladies is essential
At Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque it is recommended: not to have intimate behavior; i.e: holding hands or kissing is not acceptable in a Muslim place of worship; stay within the areas dedicated to visitors, for safety and respect to worshippers, and not going freely around the mosque
At Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque smoking and food are not allowed; do not to touch the Holy Quran (Holy Book) and other architectural elements inside the main prayer hall
Please supervise your own children. The architecture includes several reflective pools and should be avoided at all times by children
There is a minimum of 2 people per booking
Pick up time is between 08.00am to 09.30am, depending on your hotel location in Dubai. Please call the local operator at least 48 hours before the tour to re-confirm your pick up time, using the contact details provided on your voucher after booking
