Embarking on this tour, your first stop will be Sabugueiro, the highest inhabited village in Portugal, perched at an elevation of 1050 meters above sea level. As you stroll through the village with your guide, you'll have the chance to encounter one of the oldest breeds of Portuguese sheepdog in the Iberian Peninsula, the Cão da Serra da Estrela.
The journey continues towards the peak of the mountain range, passing through several iconic locations along the way. These include Mondeguinho, the source of the country's largest river; Manteigas, known as the "heart of the Serra da Estrela" and home to the UNESCO Estrela Geopark; and the emblematic Zêzere Glacier Valley and Covão da Ametade. Upon reaching the summit at 1996 metres, you'll find yourself at Torre. Here, you'll be treated to incredible views of Serra da Estrela, a region of rare beauty with impressive mountain slopes that offer a profound sense of tranquillity. Your adventure doesn’t end there. You'll also have the opportunity to savour Queijo da Serra, the region's most typical cheese, accompanied by local sausages.
The descent begins via the Ski Resort, Lagoa Comprida and Senhora do Desterro, before concluding back at your starting point. This immersive experience offers a taste of Portugal's natural beauty and cultural heritage.
