Glaciers and Waterfalls - South Coast and glacier hiking tour

4.9/5
4 reviews

Discover the dramatic beauty of Iceland’s South Coast on this unforgettable day trip from Reykjavík. This tour blends iconic sightseeing with adventure, leading you through mossy fields and past legendary volcanoes like Hekla and the infamous Eyjafjallajökull. After pick-up in Reykjavík, sit back and enjoy the scenic views from a comfortable minibus with onboard WiFi.

Your first stop is the mighty Skógafoss, a thundering 60-meter waterfall. Stand at its base to feel the powerful mist or climb the side staircase for a bird’s-eye view of the cascading water and the vibrant rainbows often seen in its spray. Next, you head to the volcanic black sands of Reynisfjara. This world-famous beach is home to striking basalt columns and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks.

The adventure reaches its peak at Sólheimajökull, meaning "Home of the Sun Glacier," for a beginner-friendly guided hike. Led by a certified expert, you will step onto ancient ice over 700 years old. With all necessary gear provided, you’ll explore a wonderland of ice formations. Your final stop is the magnificent Seljalandsfoss, where a hidden path allows you to walk directly behind the wall of falling water for a magical perspective.

Where else in the world can you stand on 700-year-old glacier ice, walk behind a massive waterfall, and stroll along a volcanic black sand beach in a single day? Return to Reykjavík with memories of Iceland's most breathtaking natural treasures.
