Full-day Khao Sok tour with elephant sanctuary and bamboo rafting

4.8/5
1254 reviews

Are you ready for an adventure with a uniquely Khao Sok touch? Uncover some of Thailand's best-kept secrets on an exclusive tour that ticks all the boxes. You'll combine a variety of activities, ranging from the cultural to the natural. Haggle with locals in a market, meet elephants at a sanctuary and mingle with monkeys in a temple. Tina, one of our expert local guides, says, "You'll be able to see just how the workers here look after the elephants, including how they get in the water with the animals. You'll see this for yourself, and help out the sanctuary staff by preparing the elephant's food."

The fun begins at Takuapa market, where you'll get to taste fresh Thai fruit while meeting the locals. We move it up a gear next at the viewpoint in Khao Sok National Park, before a trip to the local rainforest sanctuary to meet the elephants. The sanctuary is where elderly elephants, who are unable to work, live their daily lives. Once you have helped out with the prep, you'll be able to prepare healthy treats for the elephants and walk with them through the tropical jungle.

And, there's more to come. Snap up some pics at the viewpoint in Khao Sok National Park, before arriving at a restaurant to tuck into a traditional Thai lunchtime feast. As it that wasn't enough, you'll get to try river bamboo rafting, sailing along the river before wrapping things up with a sense of zen at ‘Monkey Cave'. Inside is serene and beautiful, with an intricately decorated shrine and often monks praying. You might also catch sight of birds and bats in the cave, but the monkeys generally stay outside.

The elephants experience was wonderful we really enjoyed it, and the bamboo rafting was very relaxing. Overall a very good day BUT BUT the elephants was the last experience of the day and the guide (Queenie) never told us how long we had with elephants, we could have stayed there much longer as we arrived back at our hotel 2 hours early at 2.30 when it was advertised to finish at 4.30 Queenie and the driver Mr Charh must of been very happy with an early finish for the day

Nick the guide was excellent, very informative with a sense of humour. We were unaware that you could go in the water with the elephants when we booked the trip but other than that it was a wonderful experience.

Honestly, what a perfect day. Our guide Chelsea was an absolute pleasure. She was entertaining, informative and professional. Max, our driver driver safely and efficiently. The visits were all culturally significant, safe, enjoyable, and surprisingly private. We felt we had the sanctuary and the temple to ourselves. Such beautiful and unforgettable memories made. Thank you so much

A truly memorable experience and probably the highlight of our holiday, at least the part with the elephants. This included feeding and washing them in a river. Hard to get much closer to these gentle giants. One tip, if you want to join them in their mud bath, maybe take a change of clothes! The pre-visit to the Thai market felt like a time-filler as did the monkey temple at the end. But the river rafting was great fun with spectacular scenery and a stop off for some locally brewed coffee
