This tour combines two of Almeria's top attractions – the Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve and the historic hilltop village of Mojacar. You'll cruise off the coast of the nature reserve and then head by coach to Mojacar, one of the prettiest pueblos in eastern Andalusia. From the water, you'll really appreciate its dramatic volcanic landscape as you glide past hidden coves, imposing cliffs and pretty, unspoilt beaches that are difficult to reach by land. You'll also see the enticing Playa de los Muertos – though it means ‘Beach of the Dead', it's more a case of a beach to die for, and it regularly ranks among Spain's most beautiful beaches.Then it's time for Mojacar itself. A guided tour will give you the lowdown on its long history – it's believed to have been settled some 4,000 years ago – as you wander through winding alleys lined with whitewashed homes and bursts of colour from flower-filled balconies. Along the way, you'll see key landmarks such as the Moorish fountain, the old city gate and St Mary's church. And on the return journey, you'll pass through the impressive Tabernas desert.

Sunrise mining route off-road safari with tapas

Watching the sun rise is the perfect way to start this4x4 safari along the Ruta de la Mineria. You'll head off‑road along this historic mining route, passing through old tunnels that once carried iron and copper ore. Then, you'll stop at Concesion San Manuel, a former mining hub, before walking a 20th-century railway path to a viewpoint overlooking the Barranco de la Parda bridge.
