Marrakech medina and souks tour

3.7/5
15 reviews

Walking through Marrakech can only be described as a scene out of Scheherazade's ‘One Thousand and One Nights'. Spice-scented souks and tightly packed alleyways hiding blissful Arabian-style gardens and riads will immerse you in the city's captivating spirit. You'll visit top sights such as Jemaa el-Fnaa and the Medina.

Kick off your afternoon in style with a guided visit to the UNESCO-listed Medina. Its streaming food carts, eye-catching bazaars and street merchants shouting to invite you into their stalls make the atmosphere truly electric. Every corner holds a different aroma, sight and sound, and the more you explore, the more you'll feel like a local.

Head over to Jemaa el-Fnaa, the life and soul of Marrakech. Watch fruit and spice vendors selling their fresh produce and street performers entertain both locals and travellers alike. Finish off your arabesque adventure on a terrace cafe where you can sit down, relax and sip a refreshing drink as you get a bird's-eye view of the square.

The guide was knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. It was a great introduction to the city and the unique area around the souks and the main square. The visit to the spice shop was really enjoyable. Less enjoyable was being left for 20 minutes in a souvenir shop. But overall, we really enjoyed ir.

As previous review have said it was disappointing. Pick up and transport all fine and guide was very friendly. He takes you through all of the areas very thorough and knows where he is going BUT he takes you to his mates pharmacy and shop - both rubbish do not stay there. If you see anything you want to browse or look at make him stop! we passed loads of beautiful stalls we did not get a chance to browse. The main square is OK but very touristy shops. Be assertive with what you want to see!!

It was a bit of a rush through the souk, guide was intent on getting us to a pharmacy, where we spent ages, having loads of products explained and then given baskets to buy things, then we were rushed to another gift shop. We’d passed many interesting stalls en route but guide kept saying, I will take you to an authentic shop. Felt like he was on commission for both establishments. Then we had 45 minutes free time in the market square which was very touristy and intimidating.

As a Solo female traveller there was no TUI rep at the Hotel I was staying at. I had booked to go on a trip. Had to make my own way to meet up point. Had to pay for a taxi there and back. Luckily I have travelled alone before. But if I was less experince could be scary. Would have been nice to be collected.

Struggled to hear the guide. If wanted to buy anything we could only go to one shop. Taken to a chemist for too long to encourage us to buy! No time to stop at Cafe France and not taken to the mosque. Overall - not as good as expected!
