Private Aomori excursion with Great Buddha and Nebuta Museum

Kick off your private shore excursion from Aomori Port, travelling in the comfort of your own private vehicle. You'll have the freedom to explore at your own pace, without the constraints of a large group.

Your first stop is the Sannai-Maruyama Site, one of Japan’s most significant prehistoric archaeological sites. There, you can delve into the remnants and reconstructed structures of a vast Jomon-period settlement, gaining insights into how inhabitants lived in northern Japan thousands of years ago. Next, make your way to Seiryu-ji Temple, which houses the awe-inspiring Showa Daibutsu. This colossal bronze seated Buddha, standing over 21 metres tall, is the largest of its kind in Japan. Wander around the tranquil temple grounds, where you'll also find traditional buildings, including a five-storey pagoda made from Aomori hiba cypress.

Following this, head back to Aomori’s waterfront to visit Nebuta Museum WA RASSE. There, you'll encounter large, vivid floats from the renowned Aomori Nebuta Festival. Learn about the history and customs behind one of northern Japan’s most dazzling festivals. Before heading back to the port, take some time at the nearby A-FACTORY. This is a great spot to browse local products, apple-based delicacies, sweets, and mementos from Aomori.
