Half-day guided Varosha and Salamis Beach tour with lunch

4.7/5
11 reviews

If you're after a day out that mixes a bit of culture with time at the beach, this trip's a great shout. You'll start by heading over to the northern part of Cyprus, crossing the checkpoint and getting a feel for a side of the island where everyday life and history sit right next to each other. It's all really relaxed and sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Once you're through, you'll make your way to Varosha, once a buzzing resort packed with glamorous hotels, sandy beaches and busy promenades. With your guide leading the way, you'll wander along the abandoned streets, passing crumbling buildings, shops and homes that have been frozen in time since 1974 . It's one of the most talked about spots in Cyprus and it's easy to see why once you're there.

After that, you'll head to Salamis Beach, right next to the ancient ruins of Salamis. With views stretching along the coastline, it's a lovely spot to cool off with a swim, stretch out on a sunbed or just enjoy being by the sea. You'll get a snack-box lunch too, ideal for a quick pick-me-up as you unwind. And if you fancy it, there's also time to check out the ruins before heading back.

Our guide and driver were amazing. We both learnt a lot and found so much about the history of Cyprus. Stav, our guide, was kind, understanding and incredibly knowledgable. We felt very welcome in her presence. The trip itself was just right. The tour was fascinating - yet heartbreaking. Our included lunch box was delicious and freshly prepared. We had the hamburger and it was very tasty. The beach was picture perfect and it was the perfect end to the tour to spend time lazing on the sands.

Our guide Stavrina was very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable. There weren’t any questions she couldn’t answer about the tour or any subject raised. There was a lot of administration involved and she dealt with it all efficiently and with humour.

The tour guide was exceptionally knowledgable about the history of the island and Varosha, which was very interesting to listen to. This I think was the first tour to include Salamis as well and overall worked very well.

Stavrola was our guide who I recognised after doing this trip 15 years ago. She is so knowledgable and gives great insight on what you are viewing. This trip is excellent and I highly recommend
