For a truly celestial holiday experience, it's hard to beat this evening dinner in Boa Vista's Viana Desert. In the middle of nowhere, far away from light pollution, you'll get an unrivalled view of the Milky Way in its full glory. With the ever-changing moon phases, this is sure to be a unique experience at any time of the year.

On arrival at the Viana Club, you'll be handed a welcome drink before listening to a briefing on what to expect of the evening. Dinner will then be ready - a buffet of traditional Cape Verdean dishes for you to feast on.

And after eating, there's another treat - you'll head outside for an exhilarating view of the heavens. Gaze into the stars and planets with your naked eyes and with the help of telescopes – it's simply amazing. The kids are also well looked after, as there are some gravity-centred activities for them to take part in.

Unfortunately it was cloudy and we were unable to see many stars, we were told the trip would be rearranged if that was the case, but it wasn’t The food, described as a delicious local cuisine, was very basic and not plentiful One drink was included, and one of those options was water We thought it was very poor value for money at 70 euros per head The guide who took us into the desert was very friendly and knowledgeable, the only positive Very disappointed Tui

The two tour guides helping with the star gazing were amazing, very knowledgable on the night sky and constellations. We had some cloud cover which made it difficult at times and they were very good at telling us when was best to come and view. The food was basic but a good variety, not sure it catered for all dietary requirements though so best to check.

The staff were very knowledgable and seemed to thoroughly enjoy their job. A shame there wasn't more constellations but totally out of anyone's control. Laying on blankets in the night, in the middle of nowhere, is a unique/special experience.

Guides were very knowledgable and funny! They really made the experience unforgettable and we took away some fun facts away with us. The staff in the restaurant were very welcoming and friendly, food was lovely! Ambience and setting was unreal! Couldn’t fault it!

Sehr stark Wetter abhängig. Leider waren sehr viele Wolken und kaum Sterne zu sehen. Essen war sehr lecker und gut, war nur leider der Hauptprogrammpunkt. Wäre schön wenn es mehr um die Sterne gegangen wäre. Die Guides waren sehr bemüht und es hat viel Spaß mit ihnen gemacht.
