The olive tree is undoubtedly the symbol of the province of Jaén. A visit to the Museo de la Cultura del Olivo (Olive Culture Museum), located within a historic 17th-century estate, offers an insight into the essence of this culture that dates back to ancient times.
A specialised guide will lead you through various sections of the museum, each offering a different perspective on olive cultivation and oil production. Notable features include a garden with over 30 distinct varieties of olive trees, late 19th-century milling and pressing systems, and an assortment of agricultural tools. The tour culminates at 'The Cathedral of Oil', the cellar of the olive oil mill which was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1992.
Following the museum exploration, you'll participate in an introductory oil tasting workshop. Here, you'll learn to identify the primary organoleptic characteristics of oils, stepping into the role of professional tasters.
