Your adventure to the Zagora Sahara Desert begins with a visit to some traditional Amazigh villages en route. Leaving Agadir, you'll head towards Zagora, passing through Taliouine, the capital of saffron, and Taznakht, renowned for its Amazigh carpets.
You'll pause for lunch in Taznakht before continuing your journey to Zagora. Along the way, there will be plenty of opportunities to stop and admire the views of the High Atlas Mountains, ancient kasbahs and verdant palm tree oases. You'll then settle into your tent for an overnight stay in the desert. After dinner, the atmosphere becomes truly magical. You're invited to join the locals for some traditional music, share a few laughs and jokes, and soak up the tranquillity of the Sahara under a starlit sky.
Rise and shine on day two to catch the sunrise across the desert before breakfast at the camp. Then, travel back through the High Atlas Mountains towards Ouarzazate, often nicknamed ‘Hollywood Africa’ thanks to its famous film studios and cinematic landscapes. Here, you’ll visit the historic Taourirte Kasbah and Atlas Cinema Studios before continuing to Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco’s most famous fortified village and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After free time to explore and lunch in a local restaurant, you’ll begin the journey back to Agadir, arriving in the late afternoon with plenty of unforgettable Sahara memories in tow.
