Discover the most relaxing part of Vienna, the Alte Donau; a lakeside village that was cut off from the main Danube channel in 1870. This is where nocturnal beavers now roam in an old side arm of the grand river. See how Vienna maintains its long-established reputation as a centre for diplomacy and international relations as we paddle past the United Nations, along with several of the city’s other most important contemporary buildings, which together are forging ‘new’ Vienna’s emerging skyline. Contrast this with cute lakeside huts which adorn the water’s edge to give vibrant bursts of colour to the lakeshore.

Once the tour is over, you could keep investigating ‘new’ Vienna - grab lunch or a cocktail at nearby ‘Copa Beach’, swim and hang out on the Danube Island, or visit Austria’s tallest building – the Danube Tower!

The meeting point is at the exit of the 'Alte Donau' u-bahn station on the U1 red line. If arriving by taxi, ask your driver to head to the 'Alte Donau U-bahn station'. Please arrive at the meeting point 5 minutes before the activity starts.

James who runs the tour is from England but has lived in Vienna for several years. Throughout the tour he provides an informative insight into the history and day to day life of Vienna. The tour also allowed us to experience a completely different side to the City and one that we wouldn't otherwise have known i.e. the water front that is clearly used by those who live there. The kayaking was easy and James provides a number of stops along the route including a short break for a swim.

I had never done kayaking before so was a little nervous, there was no need though as James who took us out was great and put me at ease straight away, he was very helpful when I got in and out, was very informative, giving us information and history about Vienna along the way. After event he sent lots of great photos he had taken off us and useful local information, would certainly recommend, fantastic new experience!
