El 19 de septiembre de 2021 se formó un nuevo cráter volcánico cerca de La Palma. El volcán anteriormente conocido como Cumbre Vieja entró en erupción, cambiando por completo el paisaje al oeste de la ciudad. Caminando 6,5 km por la recién bautizada Tajogaite -montaña agrietada- casi se llega al cráter. Desde aquí se abren impresionantes vistas de las coladas de lava y el valle de Aridane.

Heel indrukwekkend, wat heeft dit toch een hoop teweeg gebracht. De gids was geweldig en gaf ons een duidelijke uitleg over de uitbarsting en alles wat daar mee te maken had en heeft.

We enjoyed the walk with interesting information from our guide. The area around the volcano crater is fascinating though our guide gave us some insight on what a catastrophic event the eruption was and continues to be for the local population
