Marrakech medina and souks tour

4.2/5
155 reviews

Walking through Marrakech can only be described as a scene out of Scheherazade's ‘One Thousand and One Nights'. Spice-scented souks and tightly packed alleyways hiding blissful Arabian-style gardens and riads will immerse you in the city's captivating spirit. You'll visit top sights such as Jemaa el-Fnaa and the Medina.

Kick off your afternoon in style with a guided visit to the UNESCO-listed Medina. Its streaming food carts, eye-catching bazaars and street merchants shouting to invite you into their stalls make the atmosphere truly electric. Every corner holds a different aroma, sight and sound, and the more you explore, the more you'll feel like a local.

Head over to Jemaa el-Fnaa, the life and soul of Marrakech. Watch fruit and spice vendors selling their fresh produce and street performers entertain both locals and travellers alike. Finish off your arabesque adventure on a terrace cafe where you can sit down, relax and sip a refreshing drink as you get a bird's-eye view of the square.

Our tour guide was interesting and very knowledgeable about the Souks of Medina and their history. However, he may benefit from a microphone as it was difficult to hear for those at the back! The chap at the herbal place was entertaining although it did develop into something of a sales pitch! We were also taken to a second shop where there was an expectation we may make a purchase but no compulsion to buy! Overall a good introduction to the Souks of Medina for those who’d never been before.

Total waste of money. The guide provided very little info and on 3 occasions we went through the same carpet bazaar in the Souk. Huge time was wasted (1 hour minimum) in the pharmacy / spice presentation. No doubt the tour guide had a commission contract with the business and with the only other general gift shop we were advised to go in and buy goods. Two wheelchair dependant guests (brochure advised good mobility) created time delays. We refused to give a tip and made our own way back

The timing of this tour is wrong. It should be done earlier in the day to avoid the heat of the day. It would be better advertised as a beginners tour of Marrakech, we had been into the Sooks and Medina earlier in the week. The "makers" area was the best but of the tour, but it felt rushed to get to either the pharmacy or the souvenir shop. Both of these took a long time out of the tour.

I am glad I did the trip with a guide as the souks and medinas were like a maze, you could walk around for days. It was quite an experience walking through all the narrow streets nearly being run over by motorbikes that are allowed to drive through. What I didn’t like was the pharmacy even though I did buy a few things. It was a blatant sales pitch!! The only shopping we did was from one souk again an organised stop.
