4/5
13 reviews

Escape the coastal heat with a day trip to Shimba Hills National Reserve, just an hour's drive from Diani. This stunning reserve is home to the rare Sable antelope, along with elephants, buffalo, impalas, warthogs, and a diverse array of birds and butterflies.

Begin with a short game drive upon arrival, then embark on a hike to Sheldrick Falls, a breathtaking 25-meter waterfall with a natural plunge pool, perfect for a refreshing shower. Afterward, enjoy a scenic drive through the park before heading to the lodge for a late lunch.

In the afternoon, relax at the lodge with views of the Mwaluganje Sanctuary and distant elephants. On clear days, you can see the Usambara Mountains in Tanzania. Conclude the day with a drive back to your beach hotel.

This safari was pretty awesome. Abdullah was a fantastic guide and was able to identify animals and stopped so everyone could view there was no rushing around. The walk to sheldrake falls is 2.5km down and the same back. You definitely need to be fit for this trip. There are warnings to advise to remain at the top. This was physically draining but fun. You do have knowledgeable rangers for protection

Everyone should rate safty and security 10, why? Because the guides carry machine guns for your protection. Very good experience but for the older less able generation i would think twice, that hill and step climb is no joke in 35 degree c heat. Remember remember water water water. If you dont carry water you will suffer, BAD It’s actually 2.5 km each way with mid incline to around 400 steps. On our tour people were dropping like flies. I myself struggled and if i didnt have the extra water.
