Secret Lefkas

4.3/5
44 reviews

Lefkas is an island of secrets, pure nature and hidden villages that will bring your senses to life. You'll set off on a full day tour in search of waterfalls in Demosari ravine, the old monastery of St Ioannis at Rodaki and the seaside village of Sivota.

We'll kick off the morning with an invigorating walk along the slopes of Demosari ravine. Here, you'll discover Eden-like waterfalls before driving along the verdant southern coast of the island. Forests, caves and hard-to-find villages dot the landscape. You'll stop at a wine factory to see how local wine is produced and even taste it for yourself, then continue on to the old monastery of St Ioannis at Rodaki.

Built over an ancient temple dedicated to the fertility goddess Demeter, you'll be able to admire its intricate interior. Next, we'll head to an old oil press near Syvros to learn about the island's staple produce. Our last stop will be the village of Sivota, where you'll have free time for lunch, a swim or to wander around at your own pace.

Joanna was a fantastic guide, let people go at their own pace & no fussing. Lots of different things to see & do, wine tasting was fab. Only downside was the slightly dodgy minibus that was sat outside the office for 20 mins before leaving. ( I was already on it as picked up in Ligia) & then had to be swapped because it had a puncture or something so delayed us leaving the waterfalls but this was soon sorted with a different bus. Joanna kept everyone informed & on track as best as possible.

Minibus was not fit for purpose. No aircon and 29 degrees inside bus. A very high step to get on to bus which a number of people struggled with. When I pointed this out to the guide she shrugged her shoulders and said that was the design of the bus! Absolutely appalling. She did subsequently find a step which helped matters, otherwise I would have left the tour and got a taxi back to Nidri. Pacing of tour also very bad, did not get lunch until 3.15.

Enjoyed the wine tasting and the olive oil tour. Could have spent more time at the fishing village.
