Explore the historic town of Stralsund, renowned for its brick Gothic architecture and recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002.
Your tour begins at the ferry bridge by the fish market, situated in front of the harbour island. As you traverse the town, you'll admire over 500 listed gabled houses, many churches and monasteries, and the maritime side of Stralsund. You'll see the city's small canals, sailing boats, and fishing boats around the harbour island.
The city train travels towards the Hansa-Gymnasium, taking you past Europe's oldest harbour pub and into the narrow streets of the old town, past the Scheelehof. As you travel down Külpstraße, you'll catch a glimpse of the historic town hall facade. The journey continues past landmarks such as the Johanniskloster, Kniepertor, and Kütertor until reaching the Katharinenkloster. From there, it's onwards to the city gates, where you'll see the ponds, city fortifications, and ramparts on route to the Neuer Markt.
After a brief loop around the Neuer Markt, your tour resumes towards the Heiliggeist Monastery and the Schwedenkai. Throughout this train ride, you'll receive numerous explanations of the city's history in German.
