What to expect
With a name like Prison Island, you may be surprised to hear that Changuu Island is a little slice of heaven just off the coast of Zanzibar. This half-day private tour takes you over to the island from Stone Town to discover its colorful past and present, including the giant tortoises that roam around.
You'll need to pack your bathing suit for this one as you'll be enjoying the pristine beaches and waters that encircle Changuu Island. Firstly. You'll board in Stone Town. See the gaol and delve into its past as a quarantine and then a prison. For such a small island, there's a lot of history to take in. Take a look at the giant tortoises at the foundation which cares for the endangered species, then visit the Prison Island Museum, where you can learn more about its history, and chill out during some free time.
