Step inside the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral, an underground salt complex located 180 metres below the Earth's surface. This visit offers an insight into a site that reflects both Colombian engineering and the faith of the miners who helped shape it.
Your experience begins at the First Station, where you'll follow the Stations of the Cross, representing Jesus' final journey. From there, continue to the Great Centre Dome, home to the impressive underground salt cross.
As you move through the network of tunnels, you'll see carvings and sculptures etched into the rock. You'll learn about the role of Catholic faith in the creation of the cathedral, the connection between the region's indigenous salt trade and the site as it exists today, and the original church used by the first miners.
