Djebel Toubkal 2-day trekking from Marrakesh

3.8/5
1 vurderinger

This two-day trekking adventure takes you deep into Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains to conquer Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. Combining dramatic mountain scenery, traditional Berber villages and a rewarding summit climb, this experience is designed for nature lovers and those ready to take on a real physical challenge in one of Morocco’s most spectacular landscapes.

Day one begins with the journey from Marrakech to Imlil, a mountain village nestled at the gateway to the Toubkal massif. From here, you’ll leave your main bags with the porters and begin the ascent towards the mountain refuge, following paths lined with terraced crops and traditional irrigation canals. Along the route, you’ll stop in the small village of Sidi Chamarouch for lunch before continuing higher into the rugged mountain scenery. As the landscape becomes more remote and rocky, shepherds, goats and sweeping valley views accompany the climb towards the Toubkal Refuge, perched at 3,210 metres above sea level. Here, you’ll settle in for the night surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Atlas Mountains.

Rise early on day two for the final ascent to the summit of Mount Toubkal. The climb follows steep mountain paths and valleys before reaching the 4,167-metre peak, where panoramic views stretch across the Atlas Mountains, the Haouz plains and as far as Ouarzazate to the south. Reaching the summit is the real highlight of the journey and a rewarding moment after the challenging climb. After taking in the scenery, begin the descent back towards the refuge for a picnic lunch before continuing down to Imlil and returning to Marrakech with unforgettable memories of Morocco’s highest mountain.

I believe the exclusion should be over 2 nights. It’s a very demanding mountain with challenging path surfaces. I didn’t make the summit only to the refuge. The guide Mustafa was amazing and encouraged me all the way. Views were amazing, from the green plantation to the snow at the top .
