Kyoto tea and kimono ceremony in a traditional machiya townhouse

One of the most famous traditions of Japanese culture is the tea ceremony. What better place to experience one for yourself than Kyoto, the city where most of the traditions started? And with this experience, there is no need to sit on the floor, as everything is done at a table.

You'll stop by an authentic machiya wooden town house in Kyoto, which was built over 100 years ago. Learn the esteemed art of ceremony from a real tea veteran with 30 years of experience. Whisk your own tea like a professional as you learn all the ins and outs of the ceremony along with its rich history. Enjoy your tea in peace with traditional Japanese sweets called wagashi dressed in a kimono, and embrace the tea culture of Kyoto with a local experiences expert. It's an opportunity to appreciate the artistry and mindfulness inherent in this time-honoured practice.
