Keep your camera close for this trip – it lines-up a trio of western Crete's most easy-on-the-eye locations. You'll kick things off at Arkadi Monastery then travel on to Chania for a guided tour and free time for lunch. Finally, round off the day in Rethymno, famed for its picture-perfect Venetian harbour.
After pick-up from your hotel, you'll journey up to the remote Arkadi Monastery. This 16th-century place of worship stands alone atop the dusty Arkadian Plateau surrounded by hills and gorges. You'll explore the Venetian baroque church and learn all about its tragic role in the Cretan resistance, too.
Next up is Chania, the island's second-largest city known for its Venetian harbour and twisting lanes. There's free time for lunch here and a browse around the market. You'll end the day in Rethymno, where a guided walk will be followed by free time, allowing you to soak up the scenes of fishing boats, pretty waterfront tavernas and Venetian-era architecture.
