Stap aan boord voor een boottocht van een hele dag naar Catalina Island, op een steenworp afstand van de zuidkust van het vasteland. Je gaat voor anker om te snorkelen rond een van de meest bruisende koraalriffen van de Dominicaanse Republiek, La Pared, waar je een kleurrijk tapijt van levende koralen, krabben en tropische vissen kunt zien. Daarna ga je aan land, waar je kunt genieten van wat strandtijd en kunt smullen van een lunch in Dominicaanse stijl. Denk aan vers gegrild vlees, rijst en salades geserveerd met bier, rum of frisdrank naar keuze.

Staf was ongeïnteresseerd en vooral met elkaar in gesprek. ‘s ochtends 3 uur over gedaan om bij haven bayahibe te komen. 2 overstappen moeten maken naar andere bus en ook onnodige stop bij toerist shop. Veel te kleine boot en er moesten mensen weer af. Kapitein voer veel te hard en had haast. Snorkelen maar een half uur. 2,5 uur op het strand. 2 lelijke valpartijen waar niemand naar omkeek

We loved the snorkelling and the beach was just paradise. We didn’t have food so can’t comment on this. The only reason we haven’t given a 10 is that the last driver bringing us home was driving erratically and too fast for the road conditions. We nearly got out to get a taxi. He also spent lots of time on his phone whilst driving. When confronted he laughed. With children on board this is just NOT acceptable.

The guide shared a lot of information on the way to the trip. The transfers were a little disjointed but everyone got there in the end! Be aware, there is a steep walk down to the boat and back, and quite a choppy boat ride out to the island. However, the island looked beautiful, the water was crystal clear. The family enjoyed the snorkeling- lasted about 45 mins- seeing lots of different fish. The food on the island is rustic but tasty. Police around to keep you safe whole you swim snd relax.

Not enough time on the island, island sunbeds where old and falling apart

VERY long transfer from Bahia Ambar (almost 2.5 hours). Snorkelling was great. Catalina is beautiful, but very "sell-y". Offered to purchase seafood along with buffet - lobster was $60, 12 shrimp on skewers was $20. Market stall on the beach. Boat there and back was great, with fantastic crew - not a party/get-up-and-dance boat. Would recommend if relaxing on Saona not your thing.
