Don Wai market has become something of a star in recent years. It's authentically Thai – there's lots of noise, colour, flavour and a few weird eats. And as it's a bit off the tourist radar, you can explore without the crowds – except locals, that is. To round off this genuine Thai morning, there's also a boat trip on the Tha Chin River.
Before you get stuck into the market, we'll drop into Wat Don Wai – a nearby Buddhist temple with a triple-layered roof and golden façade. Then it's time for the main attraction. Popular with the locals, this riverside market is the real deal. Barter with traders and try local delicacies. For a strange twist on fruit, try the mango plum – its looks like a plum but tastes like a mango.
After you've had your fill of the market, we'll board a boat for a cruise along Tha Chin River. The banks are lined with Palm trees and the water is green with hyacinths, making the river an exotic location to feast on your market-bought delicacies.
