As Wayan, one of our local guides, puts it “you haven't really seen the village until you've been to the village temple and had a look behind the scenes at the arak house.”So, that's where you're off first. A short trek takes you to the village temple, a place central to village life, where ceremonies and festivals take place. You can check out its traditional architecture, like its intricately carved stone gates, and learn about Balinese Hinduism. Next, it's the arak house, where you'll be welcomed in by the scent of fermenting fruit and the warmth of fire-heated stills. Here, you'll see how the traditional Balinese spirit is made using fermented spa or rice, distilled with age-old techniques passed down through generations.Then, hop into a vintage off-road vehicle and head to the salak plantation. Roll up your sleeves and dive into salak farming, helping to gather ingredients for your cooking class. Guided by the local team, you'll learn to whip up dishes like timbungan, seasoned meat cooked inside bamboo tubes, grilled satay, and tum, which is steamed chicken or tofu wrapped in banana leaves. Bali scuba diving at Tulamben or Amed with two dives

As a certified diver, you can take your pick of Bali's top dive sites on this thrilling scuba diving adventure. Head out from the dive centre at 8.00am, cruising towards Padang Bai's calm waters teeming with rich marine life. It's a couple more hours over the water to reach Tulamben's famous USAT Liberty shipwreck where you can do two 50-minute dives with a one-hour surface interval. Or you can choose to explore Amed's relaxed coral reefs with your two dives. There's a refreshing lunch break onboard before you head back to the dive centre in the early evening.

Scuba diving trip to Penida or Manta Point with three dives

If you're an experienced, certified scuba diver, then this diving trip in the Indian Ocean off Penida Island is calling to you. You'll head from the Sanur dive centre in Bali to your first dive site at either Penida or Manta Point, depending on conditions. Both offer some of the best diving in the area, with top-notch visibility, thriving coral gardens and the chance to see manta rays, mola mola and huge schools of tropical fish. You'll do a 45-minute dive and then a 50-minute dive, with an hour's surface interval between them. After an onboard lunch break, you can even add a third dive at an extra cost if you're keen to see even more marine life.
