Join the ultimate hiking experience of the Samaria Gorge. This is one of the longest and most beautiful gorges in Europe. The activity starts around 5.20am - 6.10am from the Chania area with a pick-up directly from your accommodation.

You will arrive to your destination around 7am and after a short breakfast, you will have the chance to photo-shoot the entrance of the gorge and admire its unique natural fomation. Your hiking escort will give you all necessary instructions on how to enter the gorge with the rest of the group.

After that, the driver will take you to the small village of Sougia, where you will embark on the boat to reach the village of Agia Roumeli. You can walk up to the exit of the gorge, to the “Iron Gates” or swim and have lunch there, until you meet with the rest of the group. You will arrive at Chania around 8.30pm.

Indicative Time-table: 05:20-06:10 Pick up 07:30 Short stop at Omalos (1.200 m) – free time for breakfast and to take some pictures 08:00 Departure from Omalos to Sougia 09:00 Departure from Sougia to Agia Roumeli by boat 10:00 Arrival at Agia Roumeliwalk into the gorge up to the Iron Gates (optionalwith fee – not included). Free time to eat & drink and to swim. You can walk until the exit of the gorge, to the “Iron Gates” or swim and have a lunch there until you meet with the rest of the group. 16:30 Meet your guide at Agia Roumeli and get theferry-boat tickets to Sougia. 17:00-17:30 Departure from Agia Roumeli to Sougia 18:30 Arrival to Sougia 20:00 - 20:30 Arrival at your Hotel

Men da man kom til Samari kløften, det var en smuk tur

Vores guide Ingrid var ekstremt kompetent som gav os god service og informationer. Hun fortalte en del om Kretas historie og Samari Gorge. Sjældent har jeg haft en bedre guide. Selve kløften var en kæmpe oplevelse, men jeg gik også på dele af ruten med en frygt for, at sten ville falde ned. Er man til spænding, en flot oplevelse og afprøvning af ens fysiske grænser, så er det turen.

Alt var fantastisk. Eneste minus er oplevelsen ved at ankomme til destinationsbyen. Efter en hård tur er følte vi os lidt tvunget til at gå på restaurent for at kunne sidde i skygge. Der er ingen andre steder at sidde ned og få lidt skygge.
