La Palma is crisscrossed with world-class walking trails. But the star of the show is the Caldera Taburiente hike â a journey through the island's only national park. You'll walk 16 kilometres along the snake-like trails into the crater basin, which takes you down 800 metres in negative elevation to gaze out over incredible scenery, before a visit to La Cascade de Colores â a waterfall where iron-rich waters create a rainbow effect.
