Get excited about the diverse history and nature of Cambodia and Battambang by tuk-tuk.
You´ll start the morning with a visit to see the making of homemade rice paper, which is normally used to make spring rolls. You will get to see the entire process and actually try making the rice paper yourself. Then you'll head to a fishing village outside town to visit a traditional fish paste market. After taking in the sights, continue to Ek Phnom temple, built in the 11th century under the rule of Suryavarman I. Enjoy some beautiful Hindu carvings before returning to the hotel to freshen up and have lunch.
In the afternoon, visit Wat Phnom Banan, an ancient temple built by King Jarvarman VII in the 11th century. Located on top of a 400-meter hill, the temple offers breathtaking views. From there, you will explore Phnom Sampeau, a natural rock formation with a series of caves. The area was a former stronghold of the communist regime, Khmer Rouge, that controlled Cambodia from 1975 to 1979 and some caves were used as "killing caves". Your guide will give you a history of this area and will answer any questions you may have. You'll also have the opportunity to visit Bat Cave to see a steady stream of bats leaving the cave as dusk falls around 5:00 pm.
