Start your tour by visiting the mesmerizing white marble Victoria Memorial that took inspiration from the Taj Mahal. Enjoy walking down its tree-lined paths and marvel at the splendid gardens. Inside it is home to several statues of famous people including Queen Victoria.
To the east of the Memorial, you will be able to find St Paul’s Cathedral, one of the most important churches of India with its impressive stained-glass windows. Continue on to the National Library in the stately Belvedere House which actually has the largest collection of books in India. There will also be a visit to the Indian Museum which is the largest in the country with sections of Art, Archaeology, Anthropology, Geology, Zoology, and Industry.
Afterwards, you’ll make your way to the Dakshineswar Kali Temple and Belur Math. The architecture of Belur Math combines various styles of the different religions of India so you’ll be able to see the evidence of churches, temples and mosques existing as one. Be awestruck by this temple that embodies the spirit of religious fraternity.
The tour will come to an end with a photo stop at the Howrah Bridge, also known as the Rabindra Setu. The bridge is the gateway of Kolkata and its grandeur and majestic appeal has been the face of the city for over a century.
