This tour will take you to visit six beautiful patios located in one of the most charming neighbourhoods in Córdoba, called San Basilio. During the 2-hour tour, the guides will tell you about the origin, architecture, plants and history of these courtyards.
The tradition of the patios is linked with the Roman and Muslim cultures. From these times, the courtyard was one of the most important spaces of the houses because it had different functions, such as to cool the different rooms due to the high temperatures of Córdoba. These little gardens, nowadays, a typical element of the houses of Córdoba, are the reason for the Festival de los Patios (the festivity of the patios) of Córdoba. It is celebrated from 1921 during the first fifteen days of May, giving the opportunity to all visitors to discover its history, tradition and beauty. The Fiesta de los Patios was declared a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2012.
