Clear turquoise water, granite headlands, and sandy coves define Baja Sardinia, a seaside resort on the Costa Smeralda in northern Sardinia. Set between Porto Cervo and the Maddalena Archipelago, it’s a great base for beach days, boat trips, and exploring the Gallura coastline. Spend your time swimming in the Mediterranean, heading out to nearby islands, or following coastal roads to quieter bays and viewpoints. When the sun goes down, the resort’s waterfront restaurants and bars bring a lively atmosphere to the evening. Whether you’re after relaxed days by the sea or a more active coastal escape, Baja Sardinia offers plenty of ways to enjoy this corner of Sardinia.

1. Relax on Baja Sardinia’s beaches

Start at Cala Battistoni, the resort’s main beach, where pale sand and shallow, clear water make it an easy spot for a swim. The surrounding coastline has smaller coves and rocky stretches to explore, too, so you can spend the day moving between beaches or simply settle in with a view of the sea. In summer, you’ll also find watersports and beach bars nearby.

2. Take a boat trip along the Costa Smeralda

Get out on the water to see Sardinia’s northern coastline from a different angle. Boat trips from the area take you past granite formations, secluded bays, and the islands of the Maddalena Archipelago, with stops for swimming and snorkelling along the way. It’s also worth exploring the coastline towards Capo d’Orso, where wind-shaped granite rocks overlook the sea.

3. Enjoy the Costa Smeralda lifestyle

Baja Sardinia is well placed for exploring the Costa Smeralda, from the marina and boutiques of Porto Cervo to the beaches dotted along the Gallura coast. Spend an afternoon browsing local shops, stopping for a coffee, or enjoying an aperitivo by the water. At dinner, look out for Sardinian specialities such as fresh seafood, fregola pasta, pecorino cheese, and local Vermentino wine.
