Francesca, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘For me, the real Amalfi Coast is best experienced in the villages perched high above the sea. This is where you can see the magic of these steep mountains covered in lemon groves, tumbling down to the blue waves below.'

This tour features a more personal touch. First up, you'll stop in the cliff-hugging village of Positano, where each house seems to be stacked upon the next. This splendid ensemble of colourful houses clinging to the mountainside is one of Italy's classic sights. After a short tour, enjoy some free time before we set off for lunch in a family-owned restaurant located in the hilltop village of Pontone. Francesa adds, ‘Pontone is one of my favourite places on the Amalfi Coast because it's the oldest village in the region, and it's still so authentic – a little-known gem with epic views.'

And last but not least, you'll head to ravishing Ravello, where your guide will show you around the village with its ornate Duomo dating back to the 11th century and a clutch of sumptuous villas with incredible views along the coast. After your guided tour, you'll have free time to explore.

L'hôtesse présente à l'hôtel pour la vente des excursions soit charmante, le résultat n'est pas au rendez-vous. C'est pourquoi je donne une note de 5 à cause de l'amabilité de la personne. Sûreté sécurité rien à redire Le guide est en anglais c'était bien signalé MAIS on ne précise pas que ce sera une native (une pure américaine). En soit ce n'a pas été un problème pour nous bien que nous n'ayons pas tout compris mais pour des personnes qui ne comprennent que l'anglais européen s'en sera un !

Tour guide was very passionate and knowledgeable informing if the history. Shame about the weather at Ravole but you can't predict the weather for October will definitely go again

The tour started well and we had good stops in Positano and for lunch. The guide was very informative. After lunch we went to Village Rufalo but it was covered in cloud so that was disappointing but couldn’t be helped. On our return to the bus the itinerary was changed, for safety reasons, and we returned to Sorrento via Salerno. This took 3 hours. Towards the end of the journey the driver and the guide were arguing, the driver sounded quite aggressive. Not a good end to the trip.

This was a really good tour, however, in our case it was spoilt somewhat by the weather. I realize that this cannot be guaranteed by TUI but this is a tour that benefits from having good weather when you are at Ravello to get the proper experience of the views.
