Enjoy a two‑day experience through desert landscapes and ancient Berber villages, and live a once‑in‑a‑lifetime adventure in southern Tunisia.
Day one begins with a drive from your hotel toward Tataouine, crossing the historic Roman Road before stopping at the shimmering Chahbania salt lake. Wander through Tataouine’s lively market, then continue to the hilltop village of Chenini for a guided walk through its old Berber dwellings. At midday, you will taste the flavours of a local meal in a Berber restaurant. Following lunch, you'll cross the dunes of the Erg desert on your way to Ksar Ghilane, an oasis where palms surround a warm natural spring, popular with locals who come to take a dip and rest from the heat of the desert. By the end of the day, you’ll reach your camp and enjoy one of the best sunsets in southern Tunisia. Settle into your traditional desert tent, freshen up with a shower, and watch how “sand bread” is prepared, with dough buried beneath hot sand and embers before being uncovered and shared around the fire ahead of dinner. Afterwards, unwind beneath a sky filled with stars and the deep silence of the Sahara.
Day two takes you to the troglodyte village of Matmata. Your first stop is the Berber village of Tamazret, where you can taste almond tea. After the break, visit a Berber family in their underground home and enjoy an authentic local lunch. Then, head to Sidi Idriss, a troglodyte hotel where scenes from the Star Wars films were shot, before ending the day in the picturesque Berber village of Toujane. In the late afternoon, you’ll return to your hotel.
