Since opening in 2018, this 360-degree panoramic artwork depicting the original setting of the ancient Pergamon Altar has become one of Berlin's most remarkable cultural attractions.
Created by German-Iranian artist Yadegar Asisi, whose name is closely associated with the unique Panometer format, the panorama brings the ancient world to life at a 1:1 scale. It offers a vivid glimpse into the daily life that once animated the metropolis of Pergamon.
The panorama transports visitors back to AD 129, presenting the ancient city of Pergamon on the west coast of Asia Minor. Yadegar Asisi reconstructs the city as it appeared during the High Roman Empire under the rule of Emperor Hadrian (AD 117-138).
