Northern Fuerteventura shows its wilder side on this sunset 4x4 safari, where volcanic trails, fishing villages and Atlantic views come together in one unforgettable evening. On 12 August, the tour gets an astronomical twist, with a partial solar eclipse visible from El Cotillo's rugged coastline.
Heading off-road through the Bayuyo volcanic area, you'll pass lava fields and crater scenery shaped by the island's fiery past, with a photo stop along the way and the chance to spot the friendly local chipmunks. From there, the route winds towards Majanicho, where whitewashed houses sit quietly beside the sea. Then it's onto sandy coastal tracks leading to El Cotillo – a laidback surf spot known for its black volcanic beaches, rolling waves and golden lagoons.
You'll have time to grab a bite to eat, wander around the harbour or climb up to the Tostón Castle viewpoint. Then comes the highlight of the evening, as the partial solar eclipse lines up with sunset. Sip chilled cava from a coastal viewpoint while the fading light shifts across the Atlantic, before the drive back under Fuerteventura's star-filled sky.
