What to expect
Nabeul hosts one of Tunisia's largest outdoor markets, and on this full day tour you'll get to combine some shopping with a spot of wine tasting. You'll spend the morning wandering and haggling your way around the market before heading to a nearby winery for lunch and a tasting of local wine.
Arriving into Nabeul's Friday market, you'll see an array of colourful things – from local pottery, to embroidery, mats, perfume and all the fruits and vegetables that have been piled high. Watch locals go about their daily shop, and go off in search of your own souvenirs to take home.
After some free time in the market maze, you'll travel into the wine-growing region, set among scented orange, lemon and olive groves. A freshly-prepared lunch will be served alongside a selection of wines for you to sip and slurp – but be warned, you don't spit it out in a Tunisian wine tasting.

Next, there's a stop for lunch before visiting El Djem amphitheatre, the third-largest built by the Romans. During its heyday, up to 35,000 spectators would pack its steep stands to watch gladiatorial fights.

Cap Bon Tour with Kelibia Fort and Lunch
Tunisia's rich cultural heritage takes centre stage on this action-packed tour. You'll visit the market town of Nabeul, then explore an ancient fortress and a ruined Phoenician city. There's a typical local lunch and a view over coastal caves, too. Mehdi, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The ruins at Kerkouane offer a glimpse into the daily life of the ancient Phoenicians as it is the only surviving town from this period that was not built over by the Romans. You'll see the remains of houses, workshops and public buildings, all laid out in a grid pattern which is still clearly visible.'We'll begin with a visit to Nabeul, known as the home of pottery. Here, you'll see the traditional techniques used to create striking, colourful ceramic pieces – save some space in your luggage as these make great souvenirs to take home. Next, we'll explore the 16th-century Byzantine citadel of Kelibia Fort, which offers sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea. Our next stop is Kerkouane, one of the best-preserved cities of the ancient Phoenicians. Admire the intricate stonework and layout and learn about its role in the region.After exploring Kerkouane, we'll take a break to enjoy a freshly prepared Tunisian lunch. Imagine a place where the sands of the desert have been touched by the magic of Hollywood stardust. You've found it with this two-day tour, which'll show you some of Tunisia's most famous film locations. You'll visit a Roman amphitheatre, explore underground cave houses, cross a vast salt lake and discover a secluded oasis at the fringes of the Sahara. This desert is not a dead entity, it's even cultivated in places by those who inhabit it. The sands come alive according to the seasons.'Embark on your sandy adventure at El Jem Colosseum. This ancient Roman theatre would seat an audience of 35,000, entertained by gladiatorial fights and chariot races. You'll then head to Matmata, where you'll have lunch and visit the rock-cut cave homes that starred in two Star Wars films. It's a bit of a climb but the view over the site, the city and the bay are absolutely worth it.'Under renowned military leaders such as Hannibal, Carthage was one of the greatest powers of the classical world. Exploring the site with a guide gives you the historical background and the local perspective on the story of Carthage. You'll see ruins such as the Baths of Antoninus, which were the largest thermal baths in the Roman Empire. It's a great spot to enjoy the thermal waters – right by the sea.
