Hidden Bulgaria Tour from Obzor with River Cruise and Lunch

4/5
2 reviews

The best way to get to know the Bulgarian culture is by meeting the locals for whom it's a way of life. With a visit to ancient Byala, a riverboat trip and an afternoon of folklore and fun with the grannies of Solnik village, you'll experience a lot on this varied day out.

First up is the seaside town of Byala, on the St. Atanas Cape. Discover its rich history dating back to the Byzantine era as you walk through the area. You'll see ancient pottery making equipment, a partially restored winery and the impressive Basilica. Soaking up the expansive sea view from the top of the cliffs is all part of the Byala experience. Next, we will head to Kamchiya for a 25-minute boat trip along the river to enjoy the beauty of the Bulgarian countryside.

Last but not least, we'll head for the quaint village of Solnik, where we will visit Granny Radka's house. You'll be invited to take a look at the display of typical clothes, try some local rose liqueur and tuck into a tasty lunch of dishes from the region, freshly prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Then you'll be immersed in Bulgarian folklore when you watch a song and dance performance by the village elders dressed in the traditional costume. You can even join in if you wish.

The hotel was a worthy 4* experience and exceeded our expectations. Staff were numerous and very friendly and helpful. Service at bars and help yourself areas was swift and efficient. there was a good variety of menu served every day. The hotel was away from main roads and on a fantastic long, golden sand beach. We could have the balcony door open at night and only hear the lapping waves. The sea was warmer than the hotel pool during our late September stay.

Really Enjoyed trip to folk house and lunch and the guide gave much more info on the bus during this trip. THe trip to apiary and wineyard was pointless. They should demonstrate the bee handling and honey extraction process, talk about the many different hives they have. Similarly the wine factory could include a factory tour. Instead it was just ‘here’s a honey shop and a wine shop’.
