Experience life on the revered Tonle Sap Lake at Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary. You leave the hotel at about 6 am and drive to the pier. Here, you board a boat and take a one-and-a-half hour cruise across the lake to Prek Toal floating village. Your guide will introduce us to the lake’s unique ecosystem and its flora and fauna as you enjoy a picnic breakfast. You then change boats to visit the bird sanctuary accompanied by a local ranger, who will share his extensive knowledge. There is the chance to climb a treetop platform to view bird colonies. You then tuck into lunch prepared by the community floating restaurant and visit an environmental education class and water hyacinth handicraft workshop. You then board a traditional Khmer paddle boat to learn about life on the water from a resident family and visit crocodile and fish farms, a floating school and floating gardens.
