This plan is ideal if you are in Cangas and want to experience Asturias as a local. Your journey will take you through spectacular mountain scenery, following the course of the Cares River, with breathtaking views of the Picos de Europa and villages along the way.
The first stop will be Poncebos, the starting point of the funicular and where you can enjoy views of the Cares River. Take the funicular to enjoy an 8-minute subway journey to the only village in Asturias which can only be accessed on foot or by funicular.
After a guided tour of Bulnes, you'll have free time to stroll through its cobblestone streets, visit the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, taste the local gastronomy and admire the Picu Urriellu (Naranjo de Bulnes) from the viewpoint.
In the afternoon, visit the Cheese Cave in Arenas de Cabrales. Learn about the Cabrales cheese making process and enjoy a tasting accompanied by cider, a typical drink of the region.
