After you are picked up the adventure is ready to start!

Your guide will be driving on road number 1, but it will soon turn to no-man´s-land! You will be amazed as you drive by the mountains and with glaciers all surrounding you.
You will be taken up to the base of Kötlujökull glacier, where the view in front of you will be simply breathtaking: layers of different colored ice creating a striped pattern on the glacier will reveal thousands of years of history right before your eyes!
Your knowledgeable guide will tell you all about it and about the Ice Cave itself, that shortly after you will go on a small hike to arrive.

On the way back to the capital, your group will stop by the waterfalls Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss. Skógafoss is located in the beautiful Skógar area and is also the inspiration to dozens of folklore tales. You will also stop at the stunning Seljalandsfoss waterfall, on the Seljalands River which flows all the way down from the famous volcano, Eyjafjallajökull!

At the end of the tour, you will arrive back in Reykjavik at around 8.00pm.

Know in advance:

Participants have to sign a waiver before undertaking all trips stating that they realize that all outdoor activities carry an inherent risk
The minimum age for participation is 6 years
Trip difficulty: 2/5, easy
It might take up to 30 min for the guides to reach your pick-up point, so please wait patiently for their arrival
It is important that you are ready at your pick-up point from the start of the pick-up time in order not to miss your guides when they arrive

Remember to bring:

Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket, pants, headwear, and gloves. Good hiking boots are essential, it is not possible to fit ice crampons to any other footwear

Firstly pro - the ice caves themselves are INCREDIBLE. They are amazing an absolute highlight of our trip. The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. The cons - it is a long day with roughly 4 hours of driving either side. We stopped off at two waterfalls. But the 2nd one was at 8pm so it was dark and because it was winter we couldn’t go behind it which is the main attraction of that particular waterfall. It was amazing but be prepared for a not so great time either side of the ice cave
