Discover the architectural project "1949-61 Stalinallee" (today Karl-Marx-Allee) during a guided tour and learn more about the competition of ideological positions.

The project on the old Stalinallee, today Karl-Marx-Allee was created in a competition of ideological positions. Learn more about the competition process, the designs of renowned architects, as well as the different ideas of Le Corbusier, Oskar Niemeyer, Alvar Aalto and Walter Gropius.

Trace the ideological conflict as you walk through this liveable residential neighbourhood and admire the distinctiveness of the 1950s and 1960s architecture, as well as the political expressiveness of the young GDR state. Visit the old Stalinallee: here, too, there was a call for the construction of "palaces for workers". Learn more about the different construction phases, the aesthetics, as well as the architects Richard Paulick, Josef Kaiser or Hermann Henselmann, who unfortunately never became as famous as their western colleagues.
