In the “Fouqué enclosure”, you'll walk through the lava flows to discover the hidden wonders of this exceptional site.

Enjoy this small-group guided tour with a local guide, who will show you the best spots and teach you all its secrets.

Your off-trails hiking tour will last about seven hours, has 700m difference in altitude, and will be 12 kilometers long.

This is a shared, small-group hike
The guide in charge of the day will call you the day before the hike around 6.00pm to confirm the excursion and tell you the precise meeting time
In the event of an eruption, the enclosure is closed by prefecture decree; The specialists will then offer you an off-trail route in the Sand Plains to see the eruption in progress or to discover past eruptions and the history of the volcano
Please note: this technical hike requires good physical condition. You will walk on chaotic terrain, requiring good endurance and good balance
You'll be provided with gloves and poles, compulsory for traversing these very abrasive grounds
Children: You'll move throughout the course at an altitude of over 2000m, so it can get very cold at the volcano and the weather conditions can change very quickly (rain, fog, wind …). Young hikers, like adults, should be prepared for a demanding hike
