The presence of Jewish communities in Marseille dates back to the Roman Empire, but it became stronger during the Inquisition when Jewish populations from Spain, Portugal and France sought papal protection in Provence. During World War II, many Jews arrived in Marseille in the hope of setting sail for America, and also after the decolonization of Algeria and Tunisia, Jewish populations arrived en masse in France and particularly in Marseille.

Your private driver will pick you up at your hotel or cruise ship port and drive you to the magnificent Synagogue Breteuil and its Wall of Names, the monument dedicated to the 2000 people who were arrested and held in concentration camps during the Nazi occupation. Then, you'll discover the many religious boutiques and kosher restaurants in the Jewish neighborhood.

The tour continues on with a breathtaking 360° view of the city and its coastline from the highest point in Marseille, followed by a panoramic ride along the coast towards the heart of the city. See the extraordinary Palais Longchamp, the Old Port and the oldest neighborhood in France, Le Panier, before heading back to your hotel or cruise ship.
