Central Market, founded in 1888 was originally used as a wet market. The current Art Deco style building was completed in 1937 and holds Heritage Site status from the Malaysian Heritage Society. Particularly of note are the single- and two-story buildings resembling the Kampong-style houses where many ethnic groups have lived together in harmony.
